North Paulding seizes victory thanks to late sacrifice fly, drops Roswell (GA) 6-5
The North Paulding Wolfpack Varsity and Roswell passed the lead back and forth seven times on Wednesday, but in the end North pulled out a 6-5 win in eight innings over Roswell .
North Paulding pulled out the win thanks to a strong eighth inning. A sacrifice fly by Maddie Holloway scored Hannah McGill and gave the North Paulding Wolfpack Varsity the lead for good. Brooke Whittemore racked up two RBIs on two hits for North Paulding. She singled in the fifth inning and homered in the seventh inning.
Jill Dixon worked out of five difficult moments for the North Paulding Wolfpack Varsity. She pitched eight innings and allowed one earned run on eight hits. Dixon faced her most difficult moment in the eighth inning.
The bottom of the first saw Roswell take an early lead, 2-0. The Roswell attack began with a single from M Hitchcock. A ground out by Y Sekelick then moved Hitchcock from first to second. Gutierrez doubled, plating Hitchcock. More runs came home for Roswell when Juracic scored on a wild pitch.
The North Paulding Wolfpack Varsity base runners came all the way around to score in each of the second, fourth, and eighth. In the second, the North Paulding Wolfpack Varsity scored on a passed ball, scoring Nikki Smith.
Roswell tied the game in the seventh on an RBI single by Gutierrez that scored Hitchcock.
