Hillgrove falls 13-5 at the hands of North Paulding
North Paulding Varsity beat Hillgrove on Thursday 13-5 in six innings. North scored four runs in the fourth on a groundout by EJ Edesui, a fielder’s choice, an RBI single by Caeley Anderson, and an error.
Loren Walker had a busy day at the plate, collecting three extra base hits. She singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the third and sixth innings.
Anderson handled Hillgrove ‘s lineup with ease, racking up three strikeouts. North Paulding Varsity’s pitcher tossed 4 1/3 innings of shutout ball and allowed only four hits.
Anderson, Alyssa Brumelow, and Walker helped lead North. They combined for seven hits and six RBIs, including Alyssa Brumelow’s three run homer in the third inning.In the top of the first, Hillgrove grabbed the early lead, 2-0. Savannah Stewart singled to ignite Hillgrove ‘s offense. A stolen base then moved Stewart from first to second. Adara Dale singled, plating Stewart. More runs came home for Hillgrove when Hulsey scored on a sacrifice fly by Avery Eidson.
North Paulding matched their one-run first inning with one more in the fifth. In the first, the Wolfpack scored on a groundout by Tori Nelson, scoring Anderson.
Laura Harris homered, part of a three-run second inning for Hillgrove .
North Paulding built upon their lead with three runs in the sixth. A wild pitch scored Hannah McGill to get North on the board in the inning. That was followed up by Walker’s double, scoring Emma Wilson and Maddie Holloway.
